| dc.description.abstract | This Book of Abstracts contains the complete set of abstracts presented at the AESOP 2004 Annual Congress “Metropolitan Planning and Environmental Issues”, held in Grenoble, France, from 1 to 4 July 2004. Hosted by the Institut d’Urbanisme de Grenoble (IUG) and Université Pierre Mendès France (UPMF) Grenoble 2 under the auspices of the Association of European Schools of Planning (AESOP), the congress brought together a wide international community of planning scholars and practitioners. The publication comprises 267 pages and reflects the full thematic breadth of the congress, which was organised into eleven tracks: (1) Metropolitan Planning and Environmental Issues; (2) Transnational Planning; (3) Public Participation and Urban Governance; (4) Local and Regional Economic Development; (5) Urban Design and Physical Form; (6) Housing and Community Development; (7) Planning History and Theory; (8) Planning Education and Planning Practice; (9) Land-Use and Transport Planning; (10) Planning Processes, Administration and Law; and (11) New Technologies and Spatial Planning. Together, these tracks demonstrate the diversity and depth of contemporary planning research in the early 2000s, ranging from metropolitan sustainability and institutional governance to infrastructure, housing, education, theory, and emerging digital technologies. This volume preserves the scientific contributions presented during the congress and provides valuable insight into the academic debates, methodological approaches and thematic priorities of AESOP at the time. | |
