Under the guidance of Sustainable Development Goals, Olympic legacy is defined as the long-term benefits of major sporting events for residents and cities. As a key component of event legacies, large-scale sports architecture(stadium) has become a significant urban research topic. Capital sports architecture serves as a carrier of national identity, embodying symbolic urban imagery and enriching urban cultural landscapes. This study employs longitudinal and comparative analyses to examine the evolution of Beijing’s stadiums over the past 70 years, systematically exploring their construction context, design concepts, architectural features and public activities. The findings aim to summarise trends, provide insights for stadium development, and promote sustainable growth. These outcomes ensure that these iconic venues continue to represent national identity and connect the past, present, and future.
