AESOP PhD Workshop 2025 – Istanbul: Planning for Equitable and Just Futures: Exploring Transformative Approaches - Workshop programme

Abstract

This document presents the programme and thematic framework of the AESOP PhD Workshop 2025 held in Istanbul, Türkiye, from 2–5 July 2025, in connection with the AESOP Annual Congress. The workshop theme, “Planning for Equitable and Just Futures: Exploring Transformative Approaches,” addresses planning responses to planetary crises, including climate change, pandemics, geopolitical conflicts, poverty, displacement, and social inequalities. The workshop explores concepts such as spatial justice, just transitions, de-growth, collaborative planning, urban commons, and co-creation approaches. The document includes workshop aims, key dates, programme schedules, venue information, lists of mentors and organizers, and descriptions of keynote and mentoring activities. Participating mentors include Ali Madanipour, Roberto Rocco, Zorica Nedović-Budić, Christian Lamker, Duygu Cihanger Ribeiro, Melis Oğuz Çevik, Deniz Ay, and Cenk Hamamcıoğlu.
