Abstract
This study applies collaborative agglomeration theory to investigate how geographical proximity influences rural spatial networks across 678 villages in Xinghua, China. We analyze three key dimensions of geographical proximity network: morphological distribution patterns, geographical scale relationships, and cultural superposition characteristics. Based on this, it was found that the river network and historical wei-field development jointly shaped the settlement pattern of clustering in the east and dispersion in the northwest. And the region forms a “core-edge” network structure with the urban area and Dainan Town as the core, and the northwest water network area as the edge. Water-aligned cultural resources show dual-core clustering with collaborative potential. Study provides spatial optimisation basis for rural contiguous development, and further integration of industrial and social proximity will be constructed in the future.
