Abstract

This document contains the official programme of the IV World Planning Schools Congress (WPSC), held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 3–8 July 2016. The congress brought together scholars, educators and professionals in urban and regional planning from around the world to discuss the theme “Global Crisis, Planning and Challenges to Spatial Justice in the North and in the South.” The programme includes information on the congress rationale, organising committees, scientific committee, keynote speakers, plenary sessions, special sessions, track sessions, roundtables and PhD workshops. The event was organised under the auspices of the Global Planning Education Association Network (GPEAN) and hosted by the Institute of Urban and Regional Research and Planning (IPPUR) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, in collaboration with ANPUR and other Brazilian universities. The congress addressed key contemporary challenges in planning education and practice, including spatial justice, governance, urbanisation, climate change, infrastructure, housing, planning theory, and regional development, bringing together contributions from planning schools across the Global North and South.
