dc.description.abstract | This paper explores design thinking strategies as tools for addressing urban conflicts in developing countries, viewing individuals not as passive actors but as active contributors to social change. It argues that western urban planning paradigms often fail in developing contexts, leading to negative side effects of urbanisation. As a response, the paper proposes participatory and creativity-driven approaches that mobilise communities to co-create urban spaces, events, and experiences. Emphasising flexibility, holistic thinking, and human-centred design, this method frames urban development as a dynamic, iterative process that draws upon local creativity, cultural identity, and shared knowledge. The study highlights how “shared creativity” can act as a driver of urban development, fostering organic, community-based solutions and positive feedback loops in city-making. | |
