| dc.description.abstract | IT maturity has transformed business operations and the preferences for office space, altering urban office distribution. This study uses geospatial data to map fine-scale office space patterns in Yangpu District, Shanghai, identifying office centres, exploring their typologies and relationships with nearby facilities. Key findings: (1) Offices are dispersing from central CBDs and re-aggregating spatially forming new centres. (2) These centres feature high-density, mixed-use surroundings, good subway access, and proximity to residences/universities. Five spatial types emerge: TOD Developments in Peripheral Location, University-linked Mini Industrial Clusters, Small-scale Creative Parks in urban renewal, We-work space based on Multiple-Functional Community Complexes, and CBD Zones. This study enhances understanding of internet-era office spaces and provide theoretical support for the refined organisation and optimisation of urban employment spaces. | |
