Abstract

With the advancement of urbanization in China, urban and rural areas are experiencing different trends and structural changes in population mobility. In particular, some shrinking areas exhibit diverse and complex migration patterns. However, few studies have examined these areas from the perspective of spatial mobility networks. This paper employs an urban-rural population mobility network analysis to explore the structural characteristics and movement patterns of the floating population in the shrinking areas of the Shanghai metropolitan area. It identifies the key factors influencing population structure and provides new insights for local governments to promote regional and urban-rural integration and to formulate effective policies for managing shrinking areas.
