Public space is in a constant state of evolution, continuously reshaped by its sociocultural context, technological advancements, and the shifting needs of urban life. This research aims to investigate the role of phygital spaces in transforming public space by transcending physical limitations. It intends to help rethink public space and phygital public spaces’ potential to revitalise underutilised urban spaces. Using expert interviews and thematic and framework analysis, the research identifies key themes such as social interaction, space activation, governance and design. The research argues for a reconceptualisation of public space that embraces digital integration, offering an alternative framework relevant to urban planners, designers, and policymakers addressing contemporary spatial challenges.
