Abstract
As urban land scarcity intensifies, Temporary Public Open Spaces (TPOS) offer flexible solutions to meet growing spatial and social demands. This study explores the role of TPOS in addressing the societal impacts of land scarcity in high‐density cities, focusing on Hong Kong. Using a qualitative approach, it comprises a literature review, interviews, and comparative analysis of three case studies. The research identifies key characteristics and practices of TPOS, emphasising how different models vary in their social contributions. Findings provide practical insights into optimising TPOS design, governance, and integration into urban planning. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of how TPOS can support inclusive, adaptive public space strategies in dense urban contexts.
