Abstract

This volume presents the collected abstracts for the VIII AESOP Congress (International Planning Congress), held in Istanbul, 24–27 August 1994, under the theme “Planning of a Broader Europe.” Compiled on the basis of information available by 8 August 1994, the book brings together contributions from the congress programme and is structured by subject topics, with a surname index provided at the end. It includes abstracts from the Opening Plenary, extensive Parallel Sessions (covering areas such as planning theory, education, policy, regional planning, urban design, heritage, housing, transformation, informal development, environment and sustainability, infrastructure, and comparative studies), as well as a Roundtable on Istanbul, a dedicated Plenary session on “Planning for Peace,” a Poster Session, and an Annex of received abstracts. The compilation is introduced by Futki Arslan (Chair of the Congress 1994).
