AEKOM – Final Report

Abstract

This report presents the final outcomes of the AEKOM (AESOP Knowledge Management and Sharing Platform) three-year project, officially launched in July 2019. The project aimed to establish a sustainable digital infrastructure to support AESOP’s transition towards Open Science principles and enhanced knowledge management. AEKOM consisted of three core components: a Journal Management System (OJS), an Institutional Repository (Open Preprint Server), and a Conference Management System (under development), all integrated with a redesigned AESOP website. The infrastructure was developed using open-source software to ensure sovereignty, interoperability, and long-term sustainability. In addition to technical implementation, the project emphasised community building, stakeholder engagement, and the strategic positioning of AESOP within the broader digital transition of planning scholarship. The report documents project background, activities, infrastructure solutions, community-building initiatives, budget execution, and recommendations for future development.
