This study explores how planned events temporarily reshape public spaces while permanently transforming their form, function, and meaning. Focusing on the Bergama Festival, it examines the shift from a region-wide celebration across the Bakırçay Basin to a city-centred event held in modern and historical public spaces. The research primarily relies on archival analysis of past events and the spatial mapping of these findings to trace the transformation of public spaces. While the festival enhances cultural vitality and public engagement, its increasing commercialisation and spatial compression risk marginalizing residents and diminishing inclusivity. By analysing the socio-spatial dynamics of event spaces, the study contributes to debates on public space, cultural heritage, and urban equity, offering insights for planners and policymakers to create more inclusive and resilient urban environments.
