Abstract

This volume presents the Book of Abstracts of the XVI AESOP Congress, held in Volos, Greece, from 10 to 15 July 2002, hosted by the Department of Planning and Regional Development, University of Thessaly. Under the general theme Planning in Border Regions, the congress brought together academics, researchers, and practitioners to discuss challenges and innovations in spatial and regional planning. The abstracts reflect a wide range of perspectives on urban and regional development, border dynamics, planning theory, housing, governance, sustainability, and the socio-economic transformation of European regions. The collection offers an overview of contemporary research in planning at the beginning of the 21st century, highlighting both theoretical contributions and applied case studies from across Europe and beyond.
