Abstract
Tourism plays an important role in the German economy, especially in hotspots in the northern coastal areas and the Alpine regions in the south, where up to 10% of the workforce is employed in tourism-related occupations. Like the broader labour market, these jobs are also affected by digitalisation trends and, as the analysis shows, they may be even more susceptible to certain aspects of it. This article maps digitalisation indicators to occupations and labour market statistics and defines digitalisation profiles that explain how digitalisation shapes employment in the tourism sector and where regional differences in susceptibility may occur.
