Abstract

Healthcare has become increasingly relevant for spatial planning - not only due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but also because of growing shortages in skilled labour. Ensuring equal living conditions and basic outpatient care is gaining importance. This article presents a digital decision support system developed within the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung-funded project Ageing Smart - designing spaces intelligently. The tool includes (1) a data-based analysis of population and healthcare structures, (2) dynamic, intermodal accessibility analyses, (3) a survey on healthcare needs among baby boomers in four municipalities, and (4) a catalogue of analogue and digital options for action. In the future, scenario-based impact visualisation will be added. The system supports evidence-based, participatory decision-making and strengthens spatial planning as a key actor in shaping future-proof healthcare infrastructures.
