Digital Platform for Accessibility and Cultural Enhancement of Inner Areas in Italy

Abstract

Heritage plays a central role in territorial cohesion and development policies, as well as in the activation of urban transformation processes. This interdisciplinary project experiments with a virtual platform to explore small historic centres, enhancing cultural and landscape heritage and promoting inclusive accessibility. The objective is to guarantee the right to know and share this minor heritage, eliminating accessibility barriers and serving as a shared archive for local communities. Focused on Stigliano (MT) in Basilicata, the project aims to preserve memory and local identities in areas affected by depopulation and hydrogeological risk. It also aims to promote cooperation between different levels of government and local actors, also through virtual interactions, and to encourage potential investments. The platform becomes a tool for cultural regeneration, stimulating dialogue on the future of these communities.
