Abstract

This document presents the thematic framework of the AESOP Young Academics Conference 2025 titled “Circular Cities and Regions: Planning for Sustainable Social and Inclusive Communities.” The conference explores sustainable urban and regional planning approaches in response to contemporary environmental and urbanization challenges, with particular emphasis on circularity, resilience, inclusivity, and social cohesion. The thematic structure is organized into four tracks: (1) Space – Built Environment and Urban Design; (2) Links – Mobility, Economy, and Energy; (3) Communities – Societies, Culture, and Participation; and (4) Recycling – Waste Management, Nutrition, and Food. The document includes keynote lectures and abstracts by Mina Di Marino, Meike Levin-Keitel, Francesco Campagnari, and Karel Van den Berghe, alongside descriptions of thematic priorities and participating contributors.
