| dc.description.abstract | This study assesses the livelihoods of Syrian refugees in Konak District, İzmir, exploring their livelihoods and their context based on a capital framework, and vulnerability dimensions determined by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). It employs household surveys, the Livelihood Vulnerability Index (LVI), and qualitative analyses with Syrian refugees and non-governmental organisations. The research questions seek the most effective capitals and dimensions for the LVI and the LVI-IPCC, and strategies affecting capital distribution and reproduction in refugee-dense areas. The study reveals a high-level LVI for Syrian refugees, especially due to financial capital. The LVI-IPCC indicates moderate vulnerability, with exposure as the main contributing factor. Specific capitals are vulnerable to varying extents. Urban planning should develop supportive strategies to reproduce capital and regulate distribution. | |
